New! Call for Syllabi on Topics in Popular Music
The
Popular Music Pedagogy Committee of IASPM-US serves the growing
community of educators who teach popular music in varied settings. The
Pedagogy Committee promotes reflection and research on processes
of teaching and learning about popular music--across the disciplines
and for learners at every level.
The Committee aims to
- encourage examination of the philosophies and practices that encompass
popular music instruction;
- promote the study of popular music pedagogy within IASPM's membership,
at annual meetings, and in IASPM publications;
- identify ways to serve the wider community of K-16 educators outside
of IASPM.
Pedagogy Committee members are planning ways to collect,
review, and share lesson plans, syllabi, classroom projects, and other resources
on popular music. Please contact the Pedagogy Committee ()
if you are interested in lending support to this project or want
to share additional ideas with the Committee.
